Air Suspension
The air suspension designs from BMW models feature height
adjustable suspension controlled by the driver, suitable for making
it easier to enter the vehicle, clear bumps, or clear rough
terrain. Computer-operated vents on the air springs, suspension
sensors, and an onboard air compressor allow the system to maintain
ride height and vary the suspension's ride characteristics.
Air Spring
An air spring is a rubber and fabric bladder that holds air
pressure to support a load and isolate passengers and cargo from
the shock of motion caused by road irregularities. Air bags replace the coil springs, not supplement them as is
often thought.

1. The car can be kept on its ideal axle height independent of its
variable load.
2. Driving safety is improved due to better road handling for
example at night keeping the same headlight position.
3. Driving dynamics, road handling and comfort are improved: The

characteristic), therefore the suspension can better respond to
driving

work compared to a steel spring and is therefore considered a

handling in extreme driving conditions.
